Geosteering: (UPGRADED)

This update introduces significant flexibility in Geosteering workflows by removing dependencies on Type Wells and improving Horizon management. The settings dialog now auto-saves, a new tool for target zone definition and styling, and block manipulation enhance usability.

  • Geosteering Interpretations no longer require a Type Well to create

    • If the Active Well has Tops on it, these tops will be used to create a bootstrap interpretation. These bootstrap Horizons will be updated when a Type Well is added

    • If the Active Well has no Tops, the ‘Reference’ Horizon will be used

    • Geosteering Horizons no longer require Tops to be present on the Type Well

  • You can right-click in the Vertical Track and create Horizons on the Geo Interp. This will not create a Top on the Type Well

  • Geosteering Settings Dialog now auto-saves, ‘OK’ & ‘Apply’ buttons have been removed

  • Geosteering Target Update: Define a Target Top and Target Base. Can also offset the Targets from a set formation

    • You do not have to set a Target Base. The Target Top and Target base can be set to the same formations

    • If you create an offset, a new ‘Target’ Horizon will be created. If you remove the offset, the ‘Target’ Horizon will be deleted

  • Geosteering Horizons: Geosteering Target Tops have been renamed to ‘Horizons’ to improve clarity

  • ‘Reset Color’ buttons added to the Horizons List (resets all Horizons Colors to the Strat Column defaults) and the Horizon Styling section (only resets the selected Horizons to the Strat Column defaults)

  • Import and Export dialogs will auto-close when the action completes. A green toast notification will also be shown

  • New Geosteering Interpretations have Geosteering Blocks that extend to the end of the Active Well Plan or Actual Wellbore, whichever has a greater MD

  • Geosteering Edit mode is preserved during a tab refresh and moving in/out of the Report Generator

  • Support for bulk Geosteering Block selection and TVD shift in the Cross Section and Vertical Tracks

    • Bulk selected blocks now have a blue shading, red block colors, and LWD data associated with the blocks will be highlighted red

Image
  • Removed the ‘Hang’ horizon and right-click ‘Shift Interp’ workflow

    • You can now select all the Interpretation Blocks and shift them in the Cross-Section or Vert Track

  • Added a ‘Reference’ Horizon. This will be used when Geosteering Interpretations are created without Active Well Tops or a Type Well Tops

  • Type Well Curves can be hung on the top of the base of the Target Zone

  • The user can control what block is selected when a Geosteering Block is broken (Scene Control → Geosteering tab → General tab)

  • Ability to select a group of Interpretation Blocks and merge them into a single block

  • Support for Auto Geosteering Block Extension: Last Survey & Hole Depth. Can define a distance the block is extended beyond the Last Survey or Hole Depth
