Preparing to Geosteer in ZoneVu
To get ready to geosteer in ZoneVu, first, you must provide the proper data in your ZoneVu project:
Prepare and add the Target Well to the Project:
Having set up a well in ZoneVu that represents the horizontal Well to be drilled, add that Well to your Project.

Make sure the Target Well's "Target Formation" is set to the formation being drilled and geosteered. Do this in the Well Folder, within the "Edit Header" dialog. Note that you must have already set up the strat column for your area.

In most cases you will associate the Target Well to the corresponding Well on your EDR drilling system, using the RigStream Configuration dialog in the Viewer.

Also, make sure the LWD curve type for geosteering is mapped to the System Curve type (usually GR), using the RigStream Configuration dialog in the Well Folder.
Prepare and add a Type Well to the Project:
Having set up a Well in ZoneVu that represents a Type Well for the geosteering to take place, add that Well to your Project.

You must upload the LAS file containing the Well's log curve data in the "Data" tab of the Well Folder. Make sure to assign the main Log Curve the correct master mnemonic (usually GR).

For a Well To be considered a Type Well, it must have Top data that corresponds to the Target Well Target Formation. Do this in the "Tops" tab of the Well Folder.

Geosteering in ZoneVu
Once the Project data is set up, click on the "Viewer" button to enter the Viewer (Related Article: Getting into the Viewer). From there, follow these steps to geosteer the Well.
Enter Geosteering Mode:
From the dropdown list on the title bar, select the Target Well that is currently drilling to be geosteered
Navigate to the 2D Viewer by clicking the "2D Viewer" button on the left-hand button tree
Click the "Geosteering" button on the left-hand button tree to activate Geosteering Mode. Note that the Geosteering Toolbar appears on the right side of the Viewer. Also, note that the Vertical and Horizontal Correlation Log Tracks will appear when Geosteering Mode is active.
Create a Geosteering Interpretation:
On the Geosteering toolbar (right) click the "Geosteering Interpretation Management" button (top button)
In the Geosteering Management dialog box, click the green "(+)" button to create and name a new interpretation.

Geosteer the Well:
Make sure the new/correct Geosteering Interpretation is selected in the Geosteering Interpretation Management dialog box
Geosteer -- Click the "Edit Geosteering" button to enter Active Geosteering mode.
Normalize the Type Curve -- Hover your mouse over the Type Log's Header in the Vertical or Horizontal Tracks and click-drag or roll your mouse wheel to adjust the Type Curves scale

Geosteer the Target Well using the Cross-Section and Vertical Correlation Log Track
Geosteering Details when in Geosteering Interpretation Mode:
Note that the new interpretation already has the initial block defined.
Creating Geosteering Blocks -- Control-Click in the Cross-Section to create the next Geosteering Block after the initial Geosteering Block or Click-Drag the right edge of the last Geosteering Block right to extend the Block.
Select a Block -- Double-click on a Geosteering Block in the Cross-Section or double-click on the related segment of GR data in the Vertical Correlation Track
Adjust Selected Block Dip and Offset -- In the vertical log track, Shift-Click-Drag to adjust the dip of the selected block, and Control-Click-Drag to adjust its offset.
Perform Subblock Picking -- Click directly on the wellbore display within the block to add picks. Change the position of a pick by dragging it.
